1.Internship Interview Event with Portfolio (1st Place State DECA Trophy)

This event is designed to measure the understanding of the skills required to complete an online job application for an internship, cover letter and resume to secure an interview and then how to complete an interview portfolio to be used in a face to face interview.

Complete the Online Job Application, submit a resume, submit a block style cover letter, create an interview portfolio, video you in an interview using your portfolio answering the required questions .

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

2. What skill do you feel you have accomplished?

3. How will you use that skill in a potential job?

4. How would you propose to increase fan involvement and group sales?

5. Why should we hire you?

 

2.Beginning E-Portfolio (Freshman & Sophomore ONLY) (1st Place State DECA Trophy)

Note: This is a professional portfolio, be sure to remain professional from introduction to ending. Also, the ability to open your submission is part of the competition. Remember to use a program that the judge may open on their computer.

This event is designed to measure the skills required to build an electronic version of a portfolio using presentation software such as PowerPoint or Prezi (do not use keynote unless you convert it to PowerPoint) that could be emailed. The electronic portfolio should include your resume. The website should reflect sections with a minimum of Introduction (like an objective), Education, Skills, Achievements, Community Service or Volunteer work, and any other relevant information that would be of interest to a prospective employer or college. You must include a professional video introduction in one of the slides answering the following questions:

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself?

2. What skill do you feel accomplished?

3. How will you use that skill in a potential job?

4. Why should we hire you?

 

3.Advanced E-Portfolio (Junior or Senior ONLY) (1st Place State DECA Trophy)

This event is designed to measure the skills required to build a web-based version of a portfolio using presentation software such as WIX (any web design program of their choice) that could be published online. The electronic portfolio should include a video introduction of themselves within the web design. The website should reflect sections with a minimum of Video Introduction (like an objective), Education, Skills, Achievements, Community Service or Volunteer work, and any other relevant information that would be of interest to a prospective employer or college.

4.Creation of a board game for Parker Brothers for Entrepreneurship or Hospitality and Tourism (1st Place State DECA Trophy)

This event is designed to measure the skills required to build a brand name and logo in conjunction with carrying out a theme to reinforce the brand. In addition to branding, it will demonstrate the understanding of the topic presented in a way to teach others. In conclusion the game instructions demonstrate how to communicate, using the written word to show how to play the game and goals to win. The Game will include a brand name, logo, game pieces, instructions and industry specific information. Participants will be submitting pictures of their game for judging.

5. Window Display for an apparel or accessory store or a sports merchandise store

This event is designed to show how to encourage sales through creative color and commercial retail designs to keep a customer interested. You want your storefront to draw your customer into your world through the merchandise in it. Customer Senses – You want to stimulate all 5 customer senses. Your Visual Display is built in a shoebox of specific size resembling a true window display. (Note: Use only the shoe box; no lids allowed) Participants will be submitting pictures for judging. Participants will submit pictures of your completed shoe box visual display for judging.

CTAT MIC top 5 Finalists will be announced at District Conference

CTAT MIC 1st Place Winners will be announced at TEXAS DECA STATE CDC

CTAT MIC will supply lessons to accompany each event and recommend you begin in September

CTAT MIC will not charge for CTAT MIC DECA Advisor Members (Teacher Advisor) as a benefit of membership and $10 for Non-Member DECA Advisor (Teacher Advisor)
