CTE Program Training

Specialized training provided by CTAT is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate CTE professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of managing CTE programs across the state of Texas. Completing the Program Management is the hallmark of a committed CTE professional. 

CTE Program Management Level I and Level II

Training is offered at CTAT Conferences - Winter and Summer.  For customized training for faculty or staff at your facility, contact us to arrange for professional development to be delivered in your district. 

CTE Program Management Objectives:

  • Increase understanding of CTE administrative policies and procedures including legal and ethical practices
  • Provide participants with leadership capabilities to implement effective CTE programs that increase student retention and prepare students for a globally competitive workforce
  • Provide participants with updates and changes occurring in career and technical education
  • Provide resources to strengthen career and postsecondary opportunities
  • Promote awareness about career and technical education including how to build effective business and industry partnerships and increase parental and community involvement
  • Share best practices to further integrate academic and technical skill attainment

Level I

Appropriate for CTE directors, coordinators and other staff responsible for CTE program decisions at the district level. CTE Program Management Training Level 1 is most useful for those with three years of experience or less. Participants will have access to a virtual resource with electronic documents and related web links.

Level II

CTE Program Management Training Level II is for CTE directors, coordinators and other district employees that are responsible for CTE program decisions at their local school district with four years or more of CTE experience. This workshop is designed for CTE contacts to network and exchange ideas and best practices for a multitude of CTE topics. Participants will have access to a virtual resource with electronic documents and related web links.

Academic Planning and CTE for School Counselors

This workshop is designed for counselors new to the CTE world and/or those needing a refresher. Some of the topics covered include 4 - year plans, special populations, PEIMS, accountability, legislative updates and 7th and 8th grade requirements for PGPs.  Counselors will leave with an understanding of CTE courses and how they count for graduation requirements and endorsements. Learning the language of CTE is sometimes daunting. At the end of this session, participants will be more fully equipped as they prepare students to be college and career ready.
