Legislative Budget Board Report on State Effectiveness Supports Counselors
The following is a link to a report released by the Legislative Budget Board on Texas State Government Effectiveness and Efficiency. The report includes a section on School Counselors. See the following internet link on pages 557 – 572.
The Legislative Budget Board's findings are very supportive of professional school counselors and states that school counselors are recognized as “valuable personnel in school districts and on campuses”. Further, they state that school counselors are “critical of facilitating positive student academic and behavioral outcomes in a school setting”. The report also mentions that the “primary challenges that impede school counselor’s ability to perform tasks are the amount of time spend on “non-counseling” duties and high student case loads”. It contains great data and information you can use in support and promotion of your school counseling programs.
