About the Conference
Education Open Source is designed to bridge gaps between high school, college and the workplace. This event brings together a diverse group of innovative P-16 educators, industry partners and policy leaders to share successful approaches for education and workforce development challenges. Sessions focus on successful approaches and innovative initiatives and content is geared towards replication.
Call for Presentations
Globalization, demography and technological advances are recognized factors affecting the need for change in education and workforce development. Conference topics and sessions focus on solutions demonstrating substantive improvements addressing these challenges. This event seeks presentations from innovative leaders that will drive replication and avoid high-level overviews or status updates—in other words, “moving from the why to the how.”
Key Topic Areas
Topic areas below are suggested. Selections will not be limited to the following categories:
- Replicating Effective Instructional Models
Advancing curriculum innovations such as academic and technical integrations, teaching multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, increasing rigor and relevance and innovative courses
Replicating program designs such as small learning communities, academics, charter and magnet schools
Increasing student interest and particpation that leading to higher completion of certificates and degrees in high demand occupations and related STEM fields
Discovering new teaching methods and technologies such as contextual learning and project-based learning that engages students, improves retention, attendance, graduation and test scores
Offering professional development geared towards improving quality of instruction
- Launching Career Pathways P-16 and Beyond
Integrating Career Pathways and transitions including dual enrollment, articulation, and continuums of instruction between grades and disciplines
Creating high school and college partnerships offering dual enrollment and progressive industry involvement connecting students to regional opportunities
Addressing attrition in the education pipeline and adapting to technological change
Understanding Perkins IV guidelines to create sustainable and quality career pathways
- Creating Education, Workforce and Economic Development Partnerships
Building effective local and regional collaborations with industry partners, community and technical colleges, universities, workforce boards, economic development groups and educators to build a human capital supply chain leading to mastery of high demand skills and technical knowledge matching regional opportunities
Interpreting local workforce and economic data to drive educational innovation and strategies

Review of Proposals
Submissions will be reviewed by conference organizers. Notice of acceptance will be sent to lead presenter no later than December 21.
