Advocacy and Policy Agenda

The following Cornerstone Principles guide CTAT’s Advocacy Agenda and organizational conduct.

 

Cornerstone Principles

Quality: Support college and career readiness through rigorous programs of study, aligned to state and national skill standards, inclusive of academic and technical skill attainment leading to industry-recognized credentials and/or post-secondary education and training.

Access: Support ongoing, comprehensive college and career readiness graduation planning for all students based on their goals and interests. Support participation in career and technical student leadership organizations.

Accountability: Measure results-driven program effectiveness and student achievement through valid data collection and reporting.

Alignment: Actively partner with colleges and employers in the design and delivery of curriculum in a variety of instructional settings.

Advocacy and Policy Agenda

1. Ensure adequate funding levels to provide high-quality career and technical education programs.

2. Ensure student access to dual credit programs at the high school level through adequate funding.

3. Maintain flexibility in state graduation requirements for students to pursue courses based on their education and career interests.

4. Support the TEA’s efforts to develop Campus Distinction Designation criteria for the 21st Century Workforce category for accountability reform.
