The CTAT/ACTE Member Awards recognize excellence and dedication within the field of career and technical education among our association members. Recipients of these awards are exceptional individuals who have contributed to the success of CTE through the quality of their work and their involvement in the CTE community. CTAT presents the following awards annually:

  • CTAT/ACTE Career Guidance Award—for members employed as full-time school counselors and/or career development professionals who work directly with students in a guidance capacity (not employed as CTE administrators).  Nominations are limited to no more than two per area.
  • CTAT/ACTE Administrator of the Year—for members employed as full-time CTE administrators, program specialists, coordinators, and all other CTE personnel and staff (not employed as teachers or guidance professionals). Nominations are limited to no more then one per area.
  • Marketing Instructional Council New Teacher of the Year
  • Marketing Instructional Council Teacher of the Year
  • Tenure Awards---for members in recognition of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25+ years of service. Eligibility is determined by years of service. No application available.

Criteria

Accomplishments and innovations that exhibit the quality of the candidate for the award. Contributions to the CTE community (can include activities within their institiutions, communities, ACTE and other organizaitons). 

Nominees

CTAT Areas will select nominees for member awards by December 1, 2018.  If you are interested in submitting your name for an award or would like to nominate an individual, please contact your Area President.

Application Process

1. State Competition: Candidates begin the application process by nominating themselves (or being nominated by a peer) for their state competition. Nominess for Career Guidance and Administrator awards are interviewed in person by the Awards Committee at the Winter Texas Career Education Conference. Award winners will be recognized at the CTAT Awards Luncheon at the conference. Candidates must hold the appropriate position at the time of initial nomination (eg. be a secondary school CTE administrator if applying for the Administrator of the Year.)

2. Region Competition: State winners compete within their Regions. All state winners must have their applications uploaded to the ACTE Awards Portal and be ACTE members by the March 1 Region deadline (nonmembers are not eligible to compete at the Region or National levels). Region winners are selected by their Region awards committees and announced during their Region conferences.

3. National Competition: Region winners' applications are forwarded to the final round of competition within the Awards Portal by their Region committee chair. The national awards committee selects the national winners, which are announced at the ACTE Awards Banquet during ACTE's CareerTech VISION.
